Belrose team wins Reserve Fours Competition

Belrose's team of Harvey Bowen, Mike Hickey, Graham Stewart and Bill Glen today won the Zone Reserve Fours title by defeating Gordon's John Swann, David Magnusson, Brian Levy and Peter Larcombe 20 shots to 14. The Belrose team lead all the way but Gordon managed to get within 1 shot of equalling the score on the 17th end, only to drop a 4 on the next end from which they never recovered. Still a very good result from a team, 3 members of which played Grade 7 Pennants last year!

Earlier in the day, Gordon defeated Warringah's Michael Gale, John de Greenlaw, A Clark & Matt Blackburn in a 'cliff hanger', a one shot win with the last bowl of the match and for which the umpire was called. In the other semi-final, Bill Glen's team had a comfortable 31-13 win over clubmates C Coggan, G Bee, M Potter and C Williams. For Gordon, their semi-final match was a case of deja vu because it was the Warringah side that they defeated with the last bowl in the Grade 5 Pennant finals last year.
