On the back of an outstanding start to the season which saw the Belrose Grade 1 side win five of their first six matches, the Bulls were able to survive a few stumbles towards the back-end and earn a much-deserved spot in the top 6 of the Metropolitan Grade 1 competition and direct passage through to the State Grade 1 Finals at Forster BC.

Unlike many of their Metro Grade 1 rivals, the Bulls did not rely on big-name imports ("fly-ins") but opted for the approach of being a champion team with a healthy mix of experienced locals and one or two new arrivals from other Zones seeking their own opportunities and challenges.

The Bulls' season opened with an impressive away win over Engadine followed by wins over Penrith and St John's Park, a loss to Taren Point and then further solid wins over Grandviews and Mt Lewis.  The 3-week break for the Australian Sides Championships and Easter appeared to have slowed the Bull's momentum when the double-header weekend saw them suffer a narrow loss to defending State Champions Cabramatta and a loss to Merrylands though they bounced back with a hard-fought win over local rivals Harbord.  A disastrous loss to Wentworthville Leagues in the penultimate round threatened to derail their earlier hard-work but a crucial (yet nail-biting) final round win over Northmead saw the Bulls through to the State Grade 1 Finals.

Belrose have been drawn in Section 4 at the State Finals along with Warilla, Terrigal and Casino RSM/Westport.

The following players formed the bulk of the Belrose Bulls side for much of the season - James Brown, Matt Blackburn, Brad Franklin, Steve Gliddon, Steve Kerr, Crawford Linton, Steve Lowe, Adam Moody, Stuart Rigg, Mikel Smith, Tony Taylor & John Venteman - and they were well supported by Graham Hartmann, Alan McMaster and Peter Spray who played their part when called upon.

Congratulations to the Belrose Bulls Grade 1 Side!!

Good luck at the State Finals!!
