CRUNCH TIME IN PENNANTS

Mark Alexander, Tuesday, 7 May 2019

With just two sectional rounds remaining, there is still much to play for in most of the sections in the 2019 Zone 9 Pennant Competition.

Grade 2 - looks like a 3-way battle for the coveted top 2 spots on the ladder with Dee Why close to being assured of a Finals berth while Mona Vale and Pittwater Memorial are vying for the other berth.

Grade 3 - five of the 6 sides are still in contention with a number of them to meet over Rounds 9 and 10.

Grade 4 - top spot in Section 1 is probably a battle between Mosman, Harbord and North Manly while Asquith have already sewn up top spot in Section 2 and cannot be toppled with 2 rounds to go.

Grade 5 - the best performed 2nd placed side at the end of the sectional rounds will join the section winners in the Zone play-offs so there is much for play for in all 3 sections; Belrose and Lindfield Rollers have opened up a significant gap to the chasing pack in Section 1; Mona Vale and Manly are vying for top spot in Section 2 while Section 3 sees West Pymble and Pittwater Memorial out in front.

Grade 6 - as in Grade 5, the best performed 2nd placed side at the end of the sectional rounds will join the section winners in the Zone play-offs; Belrose and Balgowlah head Section 1 with Chatswood and St Ives(1) not far behind;  Harbord are undefeated all season and cannot be toppled in Section 2 while it's a tight affair in Section 3 with Lane Cove and Warringah out in front but Newport and Pittwater Memorial close behind.

Grade 7 - Belrose look safe to win Section 1 with a gap of 15 points back to Killara in 2nd place while the undefeated Harbord have secured top spot in Section 2 and cannot be overtaken.

A further update will be provided after Round 9 this coming weekend.
