METRO GRADE 1 - Round 4

Mark Alexander, Saturday, 30 March 2019

Another day of mixed fortunes for the Zone 9 Clubs in today's Round 4 of the Metropolitan Grade 1 competition.

The Belrose Bulls suffered their first hiccup of an otherwise promising start to the season with a 47-65 (1-9) loss to their arch-rivals Taren Point.  Matt Blackburn's rink enjoyed an impressive win (24-16) over Australian representative Barrie Lester while the rinks of Brad Franklin (15-21) and Crawford Linton (8-28) had a tough afternoon.

The Harbord Hawks were looking for back-to-back wins after their impressive effort over Engadine last week and, despite repeated challenges from the visiting Penrith Patriots, managed to emerge with a hard-fought 61-52 (9.5-0.5) victory.  Mark Alexander's rink lead the way with a solid win (21-13), while the rinks of Terry Warder (21-20) and Paul Leckey (19-19) earned valuable points for the Hawks with scores on their last few ends to consolidate the overall score.
