HOW refreshing was it to see two zone clubs who, for at least the last 10 years or so, haven't featured in a zone triple's final.

Any doubts that may have emerged re the merger of Lindfield and Roseville were certainly buried when the combination of a Lindfield Rollers side of Willie Mok, Ian Kimmorley and skip, Phil Lewis showed they are destined for bright future with their encouraging win over West Pymble's Chris Rutherford, Chris Mortensen and Bill Anderson.

However, the West Pymbolians were worthy finalists, particularly with their huge section wins followed by a hard fought two shots over Newport, which just got them over the line and into the final.

Not only was this final a feather in both club's respective caps, it's imperative that they continue to enter zone events for many reasons, least of all to keep the clubs with far larger memberships in touch with the reality of competitive bowls  . . . .  that they don't have a mortgage in these events.

A break down of the game isn't warranted, as West Pymble can hold their collective heads high as they were worthy runner's up and no doubt looking forward to the next zone event.

FINAL SCORE: Lindfield Rollers 27 defeated West Pymble 15

FOR THE RECORD: The Lindfield Rollers skip, Phil Lewis is also the zone pennants recorder and appreciates being notified of pennant results at the conclusion of a game.
